Casa Decú Hotel

2017

A Boutique Hotel in the Heart of Mexico City

Located in Colonia Hipódromo Condesa, an area developed in the early 20th century, Casa Decú transforms an abandoned Art Deco apartment building into a contemporary boutique hotel. While maintaining the integrity of the original façade, the project revives the historic structure with a modern program that enhances light, ventilation, and spatial flow.

Surrounded by dense urban fabric, the hotel’s 26 rooms open onto interior courtyards, creating a serene and intimate atmosphere. Key architectural elements, such as glasswork, staircases, flooring, and materials from the 1930s, were carefully restored to preserve the Art Deco spirit while adapting to modern hospitality needs. This project is an example of how adaptive reuse can reactivate forgotten spaces while respecting their historic and neighborhood character.

Recognition & Awards

Casa Decú received First Prize for Public Building at the 2018 PRISMA Mexican Interior Design Awards and Second Prize for Best Boutique Hotel at the 2018 Noldi Schreck Awards, positioning it as a benchmark in contemporary hotel design rooted in historic preservation.

Publications & Press

Casa Decú has been featured in major design and architecture publications, including Forbes México, Architizer, Mexico Design, and The Plan, which have recognized its innovative approach to hospitality and preservation. Glocal Design Magazine has also highlighted its careful restoration of original materials, reinforcing its impact on contemporary interior design.

This project highlights the potential of historic preservation and urban renewal, demonstrating how past and present can coexist in a harmonious and functional design.
